Big crowd likely for music festival

More than 10,0000 people are expected to attend a music festival aimed at connecting all people together despite their age or interests.

Entitled Bridgefest 20128 Connecting People, the concert, which will be held in Hanoi on January 20, aims to break down gender, income, physical, geographical, cultural and religious barriers to promote equality and social integration.

The festival, co-organised by Oxfam and the US Embassy in Vietnam, in cooperation with Wake It Up and Hexagon JSC, will be a bridge for youth groups and civil society groups to come closer through music, guest speakers, and community activities.

It will present a line-up of well-known artists and singers from Vietnam and the United States, who will mix diverse music genres, such as pop, ballad, dance, R&B, EDM, and remix.

Youth idol Son Tung M-TP will present songs and two indie bands, Da LAB and Ngot, will fill the festival with lyrics about an innocent soul full of dreams. Da LAB has composed a special song dedicated to the festival.

“We named the song Ai Cung Nhu Ai (Everyone Is the Same). It is about the people who have to bear inequality. It is also a warning to all the people that everyone is the same,” band member Tran Minh Phuong told a press conference last week.

Rapper Den Vau, singer Yen Le, rapper Kimmese, and “The Voice Vietnam 2013” winner Vu Thao My, will provide a variety of modern music.

ILL-AbilitiesTM, an international break dancing crew with physical disabilities from the US will provide performances that have inspired audiences around the world.

“Every crew member has a physical disability, but they have overcome their personal challenges to be able to perform top break dancing movements. They have inspired thousands of people,” said cultural attaché of the US Embassy, Marcia Anglarill.

BridgeFest 2018 will not only be a diverse music festival, but also a space for exhibitions, installations and dialogues.

Babeth Ngoc Han Lefur, country director of Oxfam in Vietnam said music was a great way to access information, knowledge and connect people.
