HDBank Cup Int’l Open Chess Tournament
(VOV) - The HDBank Cup International Open Chess Tournament 2015 will be held in Ho Chi Minh City on March 16-23, with the participation of 85 players including 44 Vietnamese players.
Two local players, Le Quang Liem and Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son, are seeded No. 2 and No. 3, respectively at the 5th annual event.
Liem has 2,676 points and Son 2,659 points in the World Chess Federation’s Elo rating system.
Son is the reigning champion of the tournament.
Other strong players include Li Chao of China, Rakhmanov Aleksandr of Russia, and Torre Eugenio of the Philippines.
Organizers have announced total cash prizes of US$35,000, including US$12,000 for the winner.
