Homeland Spring 2022 event promotes Vietnamese culture in Italy, Cyprus

VOV.VN - The Vietnamese Embassy in Italy hosted the Homeland Spring 2022 programme via an online platform on January 23, featuring the participation of a large number of overseas Vietnamese, friends, and partners based in both Italy and Cyprus.

As part of her address at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy Nguyen Thi Bich Hue extended her best wishes to overseas Vietnamese communities in Italy and Cyprus on the occasion of the Lunar New Year, known locally as Tet.

The diplomat also reviewed activities in 2021, which was notable for being a year full of difficulties and challenges, but also witnessed some of the great efforts of the Vietnamese Embassy in Italy. Together with partners and friends, the Vietnamese Embassy in Italy has implemented plans for the flexible adaptation to the new normal.

Ambassador Hue went on to expressed her pleasure at witnessing Vietnamese culture being promoted widely, not only within the Vietnamese community, but also among young Italians, even in the context of the complicated development of the pandemic last year.

In response, Vietnamese expatriates sent their sincere thanks to the Vietnamese Embassy in Italy and to Ambassador Hue personally for the Embassy's support for overseas Vietnamese across a variety of fields. Prominent areas of support include citizen protection work, particularly with the safe return of hundreds of Vietnamese in Italy and Cyprus during the pandemic.

The Vietnamese community used the occasion to put on musical performances filled with aspects of national identity, while young Italians studying Vietnamese read poetry and sang Vietnamese songs to celebrate the new year.
