Local female director honoured at World Film Festival in Cannes

VOV.VN - Vietnamese movie “A Fragile Flower” (Đóa hoa mong manh) directed by Mai Thu Huyen won the Best Female Director Feature Film award at the World Film Festival in Cannes in France.

“A Fragile Flower” tells the story about the resilience and hope of a Vietnamese singer who possesses both a mesmerising voice and a gentle soul. The cast of professional Vietnamese singers and actors appearing in the film include Maya, Trizzie Phuong Trinh, Anh Dung, and Khanh Hoang.

The movie directed by Mai Thu Huyen and Jacqueline Thu Thao is a love story musical drama which is due to be screened nationwide from April 18.

It was introduced at the International Women Filmmakers Festival (IWFF) held in Turkey from February 26 to March 2. Moving forward, the movie will be screened in the United States from March 29 and India from May 31.

The World Film Festival in Cannes is now the world's most prestigious film festival gathering international filmmakers annually, as well as its most widely publicized cultural event.
