Thousands of readers grab deals at Vietnam Book Day launch

VOV.VN - Thousands of Vietnamese readers gathered at Thong Nhat Park in Hanoi on April 19 to attend the opening ceremony of the fifth Vietnam Book Day.

On the theme of “Book and Family”, Vietnam Book Day aims to bring authors and readers closer together, while encouraging and developing a culture of reading among the community, and contributing to building a learning society.
The event sees the participation of Politburo member and head of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education Vo Van Thuong, Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Hoang Vinh Bao, and representatives from local publishing houses.
 

Mr Thuong says he is impressed by the rising numbers of young book lovers. It is reflected in the number of books for young audiences being printed in large volumes of up to 500,000 copies.

This year, Vietnam Book Day gathers hundreds of booths from 80 different publishing houses and printing companies nationwide with more than 50,000 books on display.
