Ministers to be grilled about four groups of issues by lawmakers

The ministers of transport, environment, education and social affairs will be the main answerers of questions about issues within their remit raised by National Assembly (NA) deputies at the ongoing fifth meeting of the 14th-tenure parliament.

NA Secretary General and Chairman of the NA Office Nguyen Hanh Phuc said on May 28 that after getting feedback from deputies, the parliament decided to choose four groups of issues for the question and answer (Q&A) sessions, slated for June 4 – 6.

Questions about solutions to improve transport infrastructure to ensure traffic safety, especially in big cities, and the settlement of problems of build-operate-transfer transport projects will be given to Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The.

Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha will answer queries about the land management in big cities and the localities with many complaints and denunciations, environmental pollution and control of businesses’ waste release, and climate change response measures, especially in the Mekong Delta.

Meanwhile, Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha will be asked about the fact of and solutions to improve tertiary and general education, the management of preschool education, particularly in non-public establishments, and ways to address moral and lifestyle degradation among teachers and students.

Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung will field questions about Vietnam’s labour market, vocational training, and child care and protection, according to NA Secretary General Phuc.

During the Q&A sessions, the deputy prime ministers in charge of relevant fields, other ministers, the Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, the Inspector General of the Government’s Inspectorate and officials of the State Audit Office of Vietnam will also give further explanation of related problems.
