National funeral of former Party leader Do Muoi

VOV.VN - A ceremony to pay tribute to former Party General Secretary Do Muoi will start at 7:00 am on October 6 at the National Funeral Hall, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong Street, Hanoi and run until 7:30 am on October 7.

The funeral of comrade Do Muoi will be held in the national mourning etiquette. He will be laid in state at the National Funeral Hall, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong Street, Hanoi.

The memorial service will be held at 9:00am on October 7 at the National Funeral Hall, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong Street, Hanoi. The burial ceremony is set to take place from 1:00 pm on the same day in his native land in Dong My commune, Thanh Tri district, Hanoi.

The respect-paying and memorial ceremonies for comrade Do Muoi will also be held at the same time at the Thong Nhat Hall in Ho Chi Minh City.

These ceremonies will be broadcast live by the Vietnam Television (VTV) and Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV).

On national mourning days October 6-7, all State offices and public places will fly the national flag at half-mast and all entertainment activities will be suspended.

The funeral board for comrade Do Muoi, former General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and former Chairman of the Council of Ministers (now Prime Minister) of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, former Advisor of the Party Central Committee, consists of 39 members. Among them are Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, head of the board, Politburo Member and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and Politburo Member and Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, and other Politburo members and Party Central Committee members.

Comrade Do Muoi passed away at 23:12 on October 1 at the Military Central Hospital 108 due to serious illness.
