Youngest Politburo member heads Party education commission

Vo Van Thuong, the youngest member of the 12th -tenure Politburo, has been appointed as head of the Party Central Committee’s Information and Education Commission. 

Under the Politburo’s decision, officially announced on February 15, Thuong, born in 1970, will leave the position of Vice Standing Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee for the new role. 


Previously, he was the First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCMCYU)’s Central Committee, Secretary of the Quang Ngai provincial Party Committee, and Vice Standing Secretary of the HCM City Party Committee. 

He was also an alternative member of the Party Central Committee in the 10th tenure and a member of the Party Central Committee in the 11th tenure. 

Thuong was elected to the 12th -tenure Party Central Committee and the Politburo of the 12th tenure.
