SHB grabs Best Sustainable Finance 2023 awards

VOV.VN - The Saigon-Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SHB) has been named winner of the Best Sustainable Finance 2023 awards from Global Finance magazine.

The annual awards aim to honour the banks and financial institutions leading the way in terms of sustainable finance in the Asia-Pacific region.

According to details given by Global Finance magazine, the awards recognise leaders in delivering financial solutions which promote environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices, as well as sustainable transitions and long-term value for stakeholders.

Established back in 1993, SHB is one of the largest private banks in the country. In June, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) gave approval to SHB in order to increase its charter capital from the current VND36.6 trillion to VND39.6 trillion. With the capital increase, SHB will be in the Top 5 private commercial banks with the largest chartered capital.

By the end of the first quarter of the year, the bank's total assets reached VND570.1 trillion, with a net profit of VND4.9 trillion, up 35% over the same period from last year. This result helped SHB to enter the group of banks recording the highest net profit growth during the reviewed period.

This year, SHB targets pre-tax profits of more than VND10.6 trillion, up 9.67% over last year.

Recent years has seen SHB win many international awards, including Best Trade Finance Bank and Best Internet Bank from the UK International Finance Magazine, Best Domestic Bank from the Asset, Best Information Security Bank from the International Data Group, and Best SME Bank from Alpha Sea, among others.

Global Finance monthly financial magazine was founded in 1987. So far it has been distributed in 158 countries, with 50,050 global subscribers and recipients.

Apart from making reports on the international finance sector, the magazine holds several awards ceremonies throughout the year in order to recognise winning financial institutions and companies.
