Teleconference seeks to boost dragon fruit consumption in India, Pakistan

VOV.VN - A number of business representatives from India and Pakistan will participate in a teleconference on August 5 with Vietnamese officials from various localities to promote dragon fruit consumption in the Indian and Pakistani markets.

The event will be co-hosted by the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade) and the Vietnamese embassies in both India and Pakistan.

The teleconference is part of the National Program on Trade Promotion 2021, aiming to help localities and businesses update information on market demand and trends, and strengthen connectivity with importers in India and Pakistan as they seek to boost the export of fruit to the two potential markets.

During the event, Vietnamese enterprises and cooperatives will address various challenges they face when exporting dragon fruit, get market information and learn about regulations from the two Asian markets.

Throughout trading sessions, Vietnamese businesses will introduce their products, conduct negotiations, and sign contracts with foreign partners.

Dragon fruit is grown in a number of localities in Vietnam, but the southern province of Binh Thuan is considered the capital of the fruit in the country. Its product is mainly shipped to China, and a small mount is exported to some Asian and European countries, as well as Australia, Canada and the United States.

To remove hurdles faced by local farm produce amid the complicated development of the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietrade has recently organised several online trade exchange schemes to boost the consumption of local agricultural products.
