Unique kumquat trees on sale ahead of Lunar New Year festival

VOV.VN - Pig shaped ceramic pots carrying kumquat trees have been put on sale to prepare for welcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival 2019.

Although there’s still 2 months until Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival 2019, many unique kumquat trees in Tu Lien village in Tay Ho District, Hanoi have already caught the attention of consumers.
For the first time in the history of the festival some farming houses have planted pig shaped ceramic pots carrying kumquat trees.
Each pot costs between VND500,000 and VND10 million. The price depends on the design and the size of each tree.
Bui The Manh, a garden owner in Tu Lien village says gardeners had to plan ahead and spent 2 years planting kumquat trees in the pig shaped ceramic pots.
Mr Manh said the kumquat tree is plotted into the ceramic pigs when the tree is still very small, if left too long it can be difficult to then plant the tree inside one.
Farmers must carefully take care of each tree to make they grow out straight and appealingly.
Even two months ahead of the festival the market for kumquat trees is already booming.
Gardeners in Tu Lien village have already received many orders from across the country ahead of Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival.
