Workshop promotes Indian investment in Vietnam

VOV.VN - Vietnamese Ambassador to India Ton Sinh Thanh has appreciated the potential of southern India, Chennai City as well as Indian groups at a workshop to promote Indian investment in Vietnam. 

In his remarks at the event held recently by the Vietnam Embassy in India and the India – ASEAN – Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Indian industrial hub of Chennai, the Vietnamese diplomat underlined the Vietnamese market’s potential for Indian enterprises, particularly the taxation incentives when Vietnam becomes a member of the ASEAN economic community and through recent free trade agreements, especially the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP). 

Last year, with US$ 570 million worth of investment projects, India ranked 28th among biggest investors in Vietnam, Thanh said.

Echoeing the Ambassador’s opinion, Muthu Subramaniyan - President of the Chennai-based KCP Company, which has an affiliate in Vietnam, shared with participants the opportunities for Indian investors in Vietnam. 

Those in attendance included representatives from 50 host businesses, including such big names as Ashok Leyland, KCP, Sime Darby Edible Products, Indias, and Millmore Engineering Private Ltd.
