Hanoi capital relocates residents from coronavirus hotspot

VOV.VN - Hanoi authorities on September 1 evening moved approximately 1,200 residents from a densely populated residential area which is a coronavirus hotspot in the city, to a concentrated quarantine camp, in order to slow the spread of the virus.

A residential area in two small, close lanes on Nguyen Trai Road of Thanh Xuan Trung ward, Thanh Xuan district, has become the centerpiece of a major coronavirus hotspot in Hanoi over the past few days, with more than 380 locals diagnosed with the virus.

Local authorities have persuaded approximately 1,200 locals who had indirect contact with F0 and F1 cases to go to a concentrated quarantine facility on the outskirts of Hanoi, in an effort to separate all F0 & F1 cases from the community.

Three working groups have been established to undertake the task, focusing on communications, logistics and security.

Local authorities have made an announcement using loudspeakers, published information on Zalo and distributed pamphlets to help locals understand and support the relocation measure.

Local people in protective clothing voice their support for the measure in order to bring the outbreak under control.

Starting from 08.00pm, local volunteers move to buses and special vehicles to the concentrated quarantine facility in Thach That district.

Lieutenant Colonel Luong Hong Truong, chief of the Thanh Xuan District Military Command, tells VOV.VN a total of 1,200 people will be moved to the isolation site within three days, starting September 1 evening.

Truong says at the isolation site, all the relocated people will be provided with essential food to lead a stable life.

The relocated volunteers expect the outbreak will be kept in check soon so that they will return to their home one day.
