VOV.VN - Military forces took part in a rehearsal ahead of a grand parade which is scheduled to take place on the morning of May 7 at Dien Bien province in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory over French colonialism.

Present the event is Deputy Minister of National Defence Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, who is also a member of the Party Central Committee, a permanent member of the Central Military Commission, and chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army.

On March 13, 1954, the Vietnamese revolutionary army launched its first attack against the French colonialists’ heavily fortified base of Dien Bien Phu, starting a historic 56-day campaign. The victory directly led to the signing of the Geneva Accords on ending the war and restoring peace in Indochina.
