Nguyen Huy Tang, Vice Chairman of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations, made the remark at the 21st annual seminar on parties and a new society held by Mexico’s Labour Party (PT) in Mexico City from March 22-25.

The event attracted more than 800 delegates, about 300 of whom represented 150 parties and political organisations from 40 countries.

In his speech, the official briefed about the implementation of the Resolution of the CPV’s 12th National Congress while underlining the resolve to build an incorruptible and strong CPV, bring into play the strength of the whole country, promote reforms and national protection, and keep a peaceful and stable environment, thereby turning Vietnam in to a modern, industrialised nation in the near future.

He emphasised Vietnam’s foreign policy of pressing ahead with integration into the world and joining hands with people around the globe to build a world of peace, stability, cooperation and shared development.

At the workshop, PT National Coordinator Alberto Anaya Gutierrez congratulated Vietnam on socio-economic achievements under the CPV’s leadership, highlighting the growing stature of the country in the international arena.

On the sidelines of the seminar, the Vietnamese delegation had bilateral meetings with representatives of global parties and movements, including the Communist Party of Cuba, the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) of Nicaragua, the Communist Party and the Labour Party of Brazil, and the United Left Movement (MIU) of the Dominican Republic.

Tang also met with Elsa Espinosa – acting head of the international affairs department of Mexico’s ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party. They agreed to enhance the two parties’ relations so as to strengthen their countries’ multi-faceted cooperation such as in economy, politics, society and culture. They also underscored the necessity for a bilateral free trade agreement to bolster trade.

The CPV official had meetings with Claudia Sofia Corichi Garcia – head of the Mexico-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group, representatives of the Citizens’ Movement of Mexico, and PT National Coordinator Alberto Anaya Gutierrez.

At the events, the two sides affirmed the determination to nurture bilateral connections in all fields. Tang thanked Mexico’s support for Vietnam’s struggle for independence in the past and national development and defence at present.
