Deputy PM Tran Luu Quang to visit Venezuela this week

VOV.VN - Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang will pay an official visit to Venezuela from April 17 – 19 at the invitation of his Venezuelan counterpart Delcy Rodríguez.

The visit helps to strengthen political trust, contributing to deepening the comprehensive partnership and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Venezuela. It takes place at a time when the two countries are celebrating 35 years of their diplomacy and 17 years of their comprehensive partnership this year.

The Vietnam -  Venezuela relations have been promoted through all channels, from Party diplomacy, state diplomacy and parliamentary diplomacy to people’s diplomacy, according to Vietnamese Ambassador to Venezuela Vu Trung My.

The ambassador revealed that during his stay, the Vietnamese Deputy PM will have talks and meetings with key leaders of the ruling United Socialist Party (PSUV), the Government and National Assembly of Venezuela.

This is an important opportunity for the two sides to deeply discuss major issues in bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues of mutual concern, said the diplomat.

He said the two sides will examine measures to promote cooperation mechanisms such as the inter-governmental committee and political consultations between the two countries’ Foreign Ministries; kick-start again cooperation in oil and gas and agriculture; outline directions for cooperation in telecommunications and construction; and ramp up cooperation in economics-trade, investment, tourism, as well as local cooperation.

The two sides are expected to sign a number of new cooperation agreements in fields such as oil and gas, telecommunications, agriculture and construction.

The ambassador also said Vietnam and Venezuela are working closely together to hold a number of events, including Vietnam Day in Venezuela, Venezuela Culture Week in Vietnam and Rice Festival in Venezuela, to mark 35 years of their diplomacy and 17 years of their comprehensive partnership in 2024.
