Top Vietnamese legislator calls at Beximco group in Bangladesh

VOV.VN - Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue on September 23 called at Beximco group, his last stopover during an official visit to Bangladesh.

Founded in the 1970s, Beximco has grown into the largest private sector group in Bangladesh operating in the fields of textiles, pharmaceuticals, PPE, ceramics, real estate development, construction, trading, marine food, information and communication technologies, media, DTH, financial services, and energy. It has developed two cooperation projects with Vietnam in the fields of importing yarn and distributing and selling pharmaceuticals in the domestic market.

Meeting with Beximco’s leadership, Hue highly appreciated the group’s performance domestically and globally, including in demanding markets such as the United States and the European Union. He welcomed the group’s business cooperation with Vietnam in recent times, as well as its development orientations with Vietnamese businesses in the coming time.

The legislator noted that Beximco and Vietnamese businesses can cooperate in pharmaceuticals and textiles that are of Beximco’s strengths. In his view, ASEAN will be a potential market for Beximco as the bloc has more than 650 million consumers, including 100 million from Vietnam.

Hue also said authorities are considering opening a direct air route between Vietnam and Bangladesh on Bangladeshi businesses’ request, to meet the demand for trade exchange, tourism and cultural cooperation between the two countries.

The leadership of Beximco suggested that authorities support the firm in further expanding drug exports to Vietnam, and in establishing joint ventures with Vietnamese businesses to operate in the fields of common concern.
