Vietnam attaches importance to cooperation with Benin
VOV.VN - Vietnam wishes to foster the friendly relationship and mutually beneficial cooperation with Benin, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son told his Benin counterpart Olushegun Adjadi Bakari during a phone call on April 15.
Son suggested that the two sides bring into full play their strengths to promote bilateral cooperation, especially in economics. He also suggested that the two sides soon deploy the December 2023 memorandum of understanding on cooperation between their Foreign Ministries, especially the organisation of their first political consultation.
Bakari for his part recalled good impression from his working trip to Vietnam in December 2023.
He proposed that the two sides soon complete negotiations toward signing a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the agricultural sector. He said Benin is looking forward to soon receiving a delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam to visit the African nation.
Benin is ready to support Vietnam in enhancing cooperation with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), he affirmed.
The two sides agreed to increase delegation exchanges; and create favourable conditions for businesses and investors of the two countries to exchange market information, and promote trade, investment and agricultural cooperation.
They agreed to soon sign a visa exemption agreement for holders of diplomatic and official passports, and other documents, to create favourable legal frameworks for bilateral cooperation.
On this occasion, Son invited Bakari to soon visit Vietnam again, and the invitation was accepted with pleasure.
