Party Central Committee discusses personnel work

VOV.VN - The Party Central Committee, at a meeting in Hanoi on January 31, agreed to let a Politburo member and a Party Central Committee member relinquish their positions in the Politburo and the Party on their requests.

The Party Central Committee examined requests submitted by Tran Tuan Anh, member of the Political Bureau, member of the Party Central Committee and head of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission, and Phan Viet Cuong, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Quang Nam provincial Party Committee.

Anh, in his capacity as Secretary of the Party Committee and Minister of Industry and Trade for 2016-2021, had made efforts in directing and managing the industry and trade sector, recording important results.

However, he should bear the political responsibility for law violations committed by a number of officials and Party members of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, with many being criminally prosecuted and disciplined. Accepting the responsibility to the Party and people, Anh had submitted an application to resign from his positions and retire.

Meanwhile, Cuong, as Secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee for the 2015 – 2020 and 2020 – 2025 terms, has made efforts in leadership and direction. However, he should hold the political responsibility for law violations committed by a number of party organizations and party members in the province, causing serious consequences. Some party organisations and individual lawbreakers had been disciplined, or even criminally prosecuted.

Being aware of his responsibility toward the Party and people, Cuong had submitted a request to resign from his positions and retire.

Their requests were accepted by the Party Central Committee at its meeting in Hanoi on January 31.

Also at the meeting, the Party Central Committee decided to expel two other high-ranking officials from the Party.

Tran Duc Quan, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee, and Nguyen Nhan Chien, former member of the Party Central Committee and former Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee, were disciplined for their violations of the Party’s regulations and State laws that caused serious consequences, angered public opinion, and had a negative impact on the reputation of the Party organization and local administration.
