NA Chairwoman: Vietnam values ties with DPRK

VOV.VN -Vietnam always treasures and desires to develop the traditional friendship with their counterparts of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), said National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan while meeting with Chairman of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK Kim Jong-un in Hanoi on March 1.

The NA leader highlighted the DPRK leader’s official as a historic landmark in bilateral relations while showing her confidence that under the leadership of the WPK and Chairman Kim, the DPRK will gain greater successes in socio-economic development towards improving people’s living standards.

Ngan also affirmed the Vietnam NA’s readiness to further boost exchange and cooperation with its DPRK counterpart in the future and informed Kim about the Vietnamese NA’s recent activities. She called for both sides to increase collaboration through all-level delegation exchange, and information and experience sharing.

The top Vietnamese legislator all called for closer coordination to launch practical activities to foster partnership, mutual trust, and understanding, as well as cooperation between the two parties and nations amid the celebration of 70 years of diplomatic ties in 2020.

With regard to the second Kim-Trump summit in Hanoi, Ngan voiced her hope that they will continue dialogues to deal with issues related to the Korean Peninsula and improve DPRK-US relations, contributing to the maintenance of peace, stability, cooperation, and development on the Korean Peninsula, the region, and the world as a whole.

In reply, Chairman Kim briefed Ngan on the DPRK’s stability and development in multiple aspects while congratulating Vietnam on its socio-economic achievements over the past years under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).

He reiterated his nation’s consistent stance on continuing to consolidate and develop the traditional friendship with Vietnam, which was built and nurtured by Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh and DPRK Chairman Kim Il-sung.

The DPRK Chairman said his official visit to Vietnam is designed to take the bilateral relations to new heights thanked Vietnam for its thorough preparations and huge support for the second DPRK-USA Summit.
