Review of US Secretary of State John Kerry’s visits to Vietnam

VOV.VN - Mr. John Kerry has visited Vietnam for four times as the US Secretary of State.

John Kerry left Maryland, the US for Hanoi on January 11 to begin a three-day visit to Vietnam (January 12-14). This is his last visit to Vietnam as the US Secretary of State.

US Ambassador to Vietnam Ted Osius welcomed Mr Kerry at Noi Bai International Airport on the evening of January 12, 2016.

Mr Kerry’s first visit to Vietnam was in mid-December 2013. Pictured is Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh receiving Mr Kerry on December 16, 2013.

Mr Kerry talked to students before delivering a speech at Tan An Tay village, Ngoc Hien district, Ca Mau province.

He paid the second visit to Vietnam on August 6-8 at the invitation of Deputy PM and FM Pham Binh Minh. Pictured is President Truong Tan Sang welcoming him at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi.

The US Secretary of State met Party General Secretary Nguyen PhuTrong  on August 7, 2015.

He delivered a special speech on Vietnam-US relations,

and talked with students at the US Embassy in Hanoi.

Mr Kerry accompanied President Barrack Obama during a visit to Vietnam on May 22-25.  He strolled around Hoan Kiem lake on May 23 afternoon and answered an NBC News correspondent’s interview.

Mr Kerry met Secretary of HCM City Party Committee Dinh La Thang at a ceremony to hand over a license to Fulbright Vietnam University on May 25, 2016.
