Top leadership positions to be decided at NA’s forthcoming session

VOV.VN - The 14th National Assembly (NA) is due to convene its final session from March 24, during which it will decide on the top leadership positions, said Secretary General of the NA and Chairman of the NA Office Nguyen Hanh Phuc during a press conference held on March 23 in Hanoi.

During the course of the 12-day session, the 11th of its kind held during the 14th tenure of the NA, legislators are set to adopt the revised Law on Drug Prevention and Control.

They will also discuss draft reports relating to the performance of the 14th-tenure NA, in addition to the State President, the Government, NA Standing Committee and NA agencies, the Supreme People’s Court and Supreme People’s Procuracy, and the State Audit Office of Vietnam in the 2016 to 2021 tenure.

Furthermore, the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Central Committee will also deliver a report on the opinions and proposals of people and voters to the NA’s 11th session. In addition, the NA Standing Committee will present a report on the results of supervising the settlement of voters’ petitions which have been sent to the 10th sitting.

The National Election Committee will be providing a report regarding the performance of its tasks since its establishment.

The NA is also due to decide on the number of full-time deputies to the Hanoi People’s Council during the 2021 to 2026 tenure, along with spending around a week pondering over and deciding who will claim the top leadership position.

According to Vu Minh Tuan, deputy director of the NA Office, this will be the last session of the 14th NA. Therefore, along with creating laws, considering, and  making decisions on issues of national importance, legislators will also focus on reviewing activities run by State agencies, the NA, and the Government.
