Vietnam seeks to build stronger ties with Bangladesh

VOV.VN - Vietnam always attaches importance to relations with Bangladesh and desires to develop strong relations across a variety of fields.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Bangladesh Nguyen Manh Cuong made the statement on June 20 in Dhaka during the presentation of the Letter of Credence from President Vo Van Thuong to President Mohammed Shahabuddin.

Immediately after the Credential Presentation Ceremony, Ambassador Cuong held an audience with Bangladesh President Shahabuddin.

The President rejoiced over the positive developments made in terms of the traditional friendship and multifaceted co-operation between the two countries, especially at a time when the two countries are actively celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

He outlined great appreciation for Vietnamese socio-economic development and stated his wish that the two countries promote bilateral co-operation across multiple areas. Bangladesh therefore asked the Vietnamese side to create favourable conditions for the country to export key products, such as garments and textiles, as well as pharmaceuticals, to the Vietnamese market.

The Bangladeshi President expressed his desire to co-operate alongside ASEAN and suggested that the Vietnamese side play an active role in speeding up the process of considering Bangladesh to become a Sectoral Dialogue Partner of ASEAN.

In response, the Vietnamese diplomat briefed the Bangladeshi President on the major achievements Vietnam has recorded in recent years, whilst affirming that the nation always places importance on relations with Bangladesh and wishes to develop stronger relations in various fields moving forward.

According to the Ambassador, the second Political Consultative Meeting, co-chaired by the two foreign ministries, which took place successfully in Dhaka last May, is one of a broad array of practical activities marking the 50th anniversary of both nations’ diplomatic ties. This can be seen as a contribution to promoting bilateral relations in a deeper and substantive manner.
