360-kg wartime bomb deactivated in Dien Bien

VOV.VN - The Dien Bien Phu City Military Command in the northern border province of Dien Bien has safely detonated a bomb weighing 360 kg which had been leftover from previous conflicts.

The bomb was found near Na Yen Bridge in Xom village of Na Tau commune. The MK-117 bomb was buried deep in the ground for a long time and was only revealed after a heavy rain and landslide occurred on August 17.

According to the Military Command, the bomb, which had its fuse intact, is believed to have been left over by the French army.

Immediately after receiving the news, relevant forces were deployed to the site to transport the bomb out of the area. They later defused the bomb at a designated site in the province.
