The Pasteur Institute and GlaxoSmithKline – a leading global healthcare company – co-hosted a workshop in Ho Chi Minh City on March 7 to provide up-to-date information about the treatment for chickenpox.

Chickenpox normally affects children aged between 1-10. In Vietnam, about 80-90 percent of children are not vaccinated against the contagious disease which can lead to complications, even death.

At the workshop, doctors warned that children should be vaccinated against the disease before an epidemic begins in March and April.

US doctors said that two injections of the vaccine will help children aged between 1-12 stay immunised against the illness.
