All six VN students win medals at Int’l Maths Olympiad 2021

VOV.VN - All six Vietnamese students have won a gold, two silver and three bronze medals at the 62nd International Mathematical Olympiad virtually held by Russia, according to the Ministry of Education and Training.

Do Bach Khoa, a 12th grader majoring in mathematics at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, secured the only gold medal for Vietnam. Khoa scored 35/42 points, making him in the top 10 best students of the contest.

Two silver medals went to two 12th graders of Hanoi, while three bronze medals were won by 12th and 11th graders of Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Vinh Phuc.

With a gold, two silver and three bronze medals, Vietnam finished 14th out of 107 countries and territories participating in the contest, up three notches compared to last year’s event. Vietnam also topped Southeast Asia in this year’s contest.

The 2021 International Mathematical Olympiad hosted by Russia took place on July 19-20 in an online format. Vietnamese students did the test in two locations, one at University of Natural Sciences (Vietnam National University in Hanoi) and the other at Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted in Ho Chi Minh City.

During last year’s event, six Vietnamese students bagged home a gold, two silver, and three bronze medals.
