City of Hue celebrates birthday of Buddha

VOV.VN - On this day (May 9) the City of Hue celebrates the birth, enlightenment and passing away of Shakyamuni Buddha.

Seven giant lotus lanterns float on the Perfume River to celebrate the 2,561st birthday of Buddha in the City of Hue, Tuesday, May 9, 2017.




Lanterns and Buddhist flags are hung at pagodas where thousands of monks, nuns and Buddhist followers attend ceremonies.




The annual Buddha Birthday for monks and followers of Buddhism is a big holiday.

It is one of the three important Buddhist holidays – including the birthday, the celebration of the enlightenment and the passing of Buddha.

The streets of Hue are flooded with Buddhism symbols on Tuesday, May 9, 2017.


Activities organized by the Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha Board of Thua Thien-Hue Province pray for a peaceful nation, peaceful world, living Dharma and peaceful beings.
