COVID-19: Three imported cases raise infection tally 1,410

VOV.VN - Three Vietnamese men returning from France were the latest new COVID cases reported on December 18, bringing the national count to 1,410, according to the Ministry of Health.

On December 16, the patients entered Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on flight VN5010 and were isolated in Binh Duong province, right after their arrival

Their test results came back positive for SARS-CoV-2 one day later at the Ho Chi Minh City Pasteur Institute. Currently, they are place into isolation to undergo treatment at Binh Duong General Hospital.

On the same day, three more people were also announced to have recovered from the virus, taking the number of recovered cases to 1,266.  The number of fatalities remain at 35.

With the new infections, the nation’s total COVID-19 cases amounted to 1,410, including 693 local transmissions, and 717 imported cases which placed into quarantine immediately upon arrival.

Among the positive cases currently receiving treatment, 15 have tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 at least one.

As many as 18,084 people who had close contact with COVID-19 patients or entered Vietnam from pandemic-hit regions are currently quarantined nationwide, including 219 at hospitals, and the remainder at concentrated quarantine facilities or at their places of residence.
