COVID-19: Vietnam records four local infections in Hanoi and Ha Nam

VOV.VN - An additional 14 positive cases of COVID-19 were detected on April 30 afternoon, including 10 imported cases and 4 domestic infections in Hanoi capital and the northern province of Ha Nam, said the Ministry of Health.

The ten imported cases include an Indian expert alongside 9 Vietnamese returnees from Indonesia, the Philippines, France, and via Moc Bai border gate in Tay Ninh province.

The two cases of local transmission are related to the cluster of confirmed positive cases in Ha Nam, while the two others in Hanoi are F1 contacts with a coronavirus patient who are connected with the cluster of local infections in Ha Nam.

With the latest addition, the national infection tally rose to 2,928, with 2,516 having fully recovered from the disease, and the death toll related to the SARR-CoV-2-virus stays at 35.

Furthermore, 48 of those still undergoing treatment have tested negative for the virus at least once, while more than 37,240 people are currently in quarantine nationwide for medical monitoring.

Earlier in the morning, the nation also documented three more domestic infections in Hanoi and Hung Yen province, all related to the cluster of coronavirus patients found in Ha Nam on April 29.

At an urgent meeting held in Hanoi the same day following the detection of more fresh local transmissions, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked competent agencies and local administrations to swiftly deploy anti-pandemic measures in an effort to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus to the wider community.

The PM underlined the need to effectively contain the pandemic by strictly complying with prevention regulations, intensifying border surveillance, and ensuring the supply of enough COVID-19 vaccines to serve inoculation schemes nationwide.
