Desperate Hanoians flock to Nhat Tan Bridge for heat relief

VOV.VN - Hanoi has suffered through some of its hottest evenings ever with temperatures of late reaching a staggering 35C, leaving residents to flock to the Nhat Tan Bridge in search of cool breezes to escape the heat.

Motorbike drivers ignore laws outlawing stopping on the Nhat Tan Bridge making travel across it during the evening hours extremely hazardous.

Thousands of residents also line the shores of West Lake seeking heat relief from the cool breeze flowing off the waters.

Residents sit along the West Lake shoreline until past midnight on the evening of June 2, says one shop owner.


Vendors along West Lake charge US$.25-US$.80 (VND5,000-VND20,000) for a glass of water.
