Five imported cases from India raise national total to 1,105

VOV.VN - Vietnam confirmed an additional five imported cases of COVID-19, all from India, taking the national totally to 1,105, the Ministry of Health said on October 9.

The new infections are experts working at Sethia Hemraj Rice Oil Company Limited. They entered Tan Son Nhat Airport on flight 6E9471 on October 10, and were transferred to a concentrated isolation area at the Military School of Dong Thap province.

One day later, the patients were sampled for testing by the Center for Disease Control of Can Tho province and their results came back positive for the SAR-CoV-2 virus. They are currently isolated to receive treatment at Sa Dec General Hospital in the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap.

Of the total case, 691 contracted the novel coronavirus locally, with 551 recorded since July 25, when the new outbreak began.

The same day, one coronavirus patient was released from hospital after making a full recovery, boosting the overall number of recoveries to 1,024, while 35 have succumbed to the disease.

Among those still under treatment, 17 have tested negative for the virus at one or multiple times.

There are now 14,250 people having close contact with registered cases or returning  from pandemic-hit regions under quarantine, including 276 at hospitals, and the remainder at other quarantine sites and at home or accommodation facilities.

October 9 also marks the 37th straight day without COVID-19 cases of local transmission in the nation.
