Four Vietnamese universities named in THE Impact Rankings

VOV.VN - A total of four local universities have been named in the Impact Rankings 2021 as produced by the Times Higher Education (THE).

According to the latest rankings released on April 21 by THE, a measure of global success for universities in terms of meeting the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), four Vietnamese institutions make the list. They include Ton Duc Thang University which is ranked between 401th and 600th, along with the Vietnam National University-Hanoi which is also between 401st and 600th. They are joined by the Hanoi University of Science and Technology between 601st and 800th and Phenikaa University between 801st 1000th.

This year’s ratings has seen the Impacts Rankings assess 1,115 education facilities from 94 countries and territories worldwide.

Most notably, the first place in the THE rankings went to Manchester University of the UK. Following this, three Australian institutions, including the University of Sydney, RMIT, and La Trobe University, ranked second, third, and fourth places, respectively.

THE Impact Ranking represents one of the first rankings to use SDG as a criterion for university evaluation. This is a new point of view that takes into account the influence of universities on society, along with the traditional forms of training and research.

Indeed, all universities were evaluated according to the following criteria: No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Good Health and Wellbeing, Quality Education, Gender Equality, Clean Water and Sanitation, Affordable and Clean Energy, and Decent Work and Economic Growth.
