Further landslide in Quang Nam buries 11 people
VOV.VN - A deadly landslide hit Phuoc Loc commune of Phuoc Son district in the central province of Quang Nam province on the morning of October 29, leaving 11 local residents buried, according to the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee.
Ho Quang Buu, Vice Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee, said military forces and vehicles were swiftly deployed to the site in order to urgently begin search efforts for the victims, with rescuers recovering three bodies at 13:00.
Due to the continued impact of typhoon Molave’s circulation, intense periods of rainfall has caused Quang Nam province to endure several major landslides in recent days.
This comes after at least 53 individuals were buried in debris on October 28 after two major landslides struck Nam Tra My district in Quang Nam province. Since rescue efforts began, a total of 19 bodies have been successfully pulled out of the debris.
33 people have been saved in the incident so far with 16 of the victims being given first aid at the scene before the entire group were transfered to hospital to receive treatment.
In total, there have been five landslides which have hit Quang Nam province, causing a total of 66 people to be buried in debris.
As a means of coping with the consequences of the recent landslides, military forces in Quang Nam province have intensified search efforts for missing victims, while excavators and bulldozers have been used to gain access to landslide sites.
