Hanoi closes beer restaurants to curb COVID-19 spread

VOV.VN - The Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee requested the closure of all beer restaurants and bia hoi venues on May 11 until further notice.

The capital has also moved to ban gatherings involving more than 10 people in one place, along with deciding to shut down wet markets in order to prevent the potential spread of the epidemic.

This comes following a sharp increase in terms of the number of locally transmitted COVID-19 infections. Furthermore, restaurants and eateries located close to hospitals have been requested to switch to take-away services.

Most notably, all food and beverage businesses, convenience stores, and apartments for rent near COVID-19 hot spots such as the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases and the K Hospital’s Tan Trieu facility have also been asked to close.

This comes after residents of the capital were advised not to go out unless necessary. Elsewhere, the People’s Committee of Tay Ninh province has also asked that non-essential services like bars, nightclubs, karaoke venues, and wedding ceremonies be halted. In addition, they have also ordered the temporary closure of relic and religious sites until further notice, with the ban taking effect on May 12.
