Hanoi rehearses fight against outbreak of African swine fever
VOV.VN - A rehearsal was held in Hanoi on March 7 to prepare in the event of an African swine fever outbreak in the capital city.

| In the rehearsal, a hypothetical scenario was given. The scenario given is that a new outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) has been detected in Thanh Mai commune, Thanh Oai district, Hanoi. Immediately after receiving the news local authorities must act quickly to put measures in place to effectively tackle the outbreak. |

| A quick response team is set up at the Hanoi Department of Animal Health, they practice the quarantine steps necessary to counter the ASF outbreak. As of March 6, Hanoi has detected outbreaks in four districts, including Long Bien, Dong Anh, Hoang Mai, and Gia Lam, with over 100 pigs having to be put down. |

| Hanoi is currently home to 988 slaughterhouses, including 100 buffaloes and cows, nearly 4,000 pigs, and 28,000 poultry. As a result, the control of vehicles travelling in and out of areas where the epidemic has been detected at quarantine posts is necessary to limit the spread of the virus. |
