Lao Cai police carry out biggest ever drugs bust
VOV.VN - Police in the northern province of Lao Cai have detained two men who were caught in possession of 329 bricks of heroin worth around VND69 billion.
The two men were apprehended at 4pm on May 11 while driving on Highway 4D via Thanh Binh commune in the Muong Khuong district of Lao Cai province. |
329 bricks of heroin had been concealed within the bodywork of their Ford Ranger pick-up truck. |
According to initial information, the suspects’ names are Nguyen Van Dai, born in 1975, and Nguyen Van Ly, born in 1991, residing in Anh Son district, Central Nghe An Province. |

The drugs were smuggled over the border from Laos and stashed in Nghe An for a long period of time. They were seized when Dai and Ly attempted to smuggle them through Lao Cai province to China for onward distribution. |
This is the biggest drugs bust to have been successfully carried out by Lao Cao police so far. Leaders of the provincial People’s Committee and Department of Public Security rewarded officials and police officers who were involved in the bust. |
