Leaders extend Christmas wishes to catholic followers

VOV.VN - Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) President Tran Thanh Man extended his  Christmas greetings to the Bishop Church in Can Tho City while visiting the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on December 23.

Man wished local priests and Catholic followers a warm and merry Christmas season and asked them to continue their support to the Fatherland Front’s movement to achieve national social economic targets.

He lauded Catholics nationwide and those in Can Tho city in particular for joining the VFF’s movements such as new-style rural development, sustainable poverty reduction and Vietnamese people prioritizing Vietnamese goods.

They also participated charitable activities and vocational training, and offered support to disaster-hit residents. 
The VFF leader said he hopes that Bishop Tri Buu Thien and priests of Can Tho Diocese will continue urging Catholics to obey the Party policies and guidelines and State laws and make contributions to national development. 

Thien, for his part, showed his belief that local authorities always take heed to Catholic community, and Can Tho and the whole country will further prosper in the near future. 

Also the same day,  Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh congratulated pastors and priests in Kon Tum province during his visits to several religious facilities in the province. 

The Deputy Prime Minister asked Catholic followers and Protestants to join the Party, State and Fatherland Front in national defense and development to serve the God and the nation. 

He said the government is to issue a Decree to guide the implementation of the Law on Religions to facilitate religious activities.

 “With the government decree to guide the implementation of the Law on Religions, Catholics and Protestants are religions of government care to promote the Gospel and contribute to national efforts in improving followers’ lives," he said.

Permanent Vice Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairwoman of the People’s Council of southern Bac Lieu province Le Thi Ai Nam also extended Christmas greetings to Catholic followers in churches across the locality.
