New cold to break heat, bring rain to northern Vietnam
VOV.VN - A cold front is moving toward Vietnam to help break the humid heat that has been hitting northern localities for the past few days, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
Northern localities have been enduring hot weather for the past several days, with daytime temperatures climbing to 30-34, and humidity rising to nearly 100%.
However, such weather conditions will improve as soon as a new cold spell hits the region.
The new air wave is scheduled to impact north-eastern localities on February 22 evening before spreading across north-western and north-central areas when it moves further inland, said weather experts.
It will send temperatures tumbling to 17-20°C in the plains and 15-17°C in the highlands. Some upland areas will even record a low of 12°C.
Notably, the new cold spell will bring light rain to the northern and central regions from February 22-24.
Weather experts warned about thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, hailstones and strong winds to occur that may impact agricultural production, fell trees, and damage houses, traffic works and infrastructure facilities.
