Over 2,850 COVID-19 cases reported as vaccine passports pass 10 million mark

VOV.VN - A total of 2,855 fresh infections were reported in the nation on May 10, raising the national tally from the start of the pandemic to 10,681,214, said the Ministry of Health.

The localities in which the number of infections saw a sharp fall compared to the previous day include Bac Giang with a drop of 28, Hanoi with a decline of 24, and Quang Ngai with a fall of 16.

The COVID-19 death toll has witnessed a constant decline over recent times, with only two cases confirmed over the past 24 hours, thereby taking the overall number of fatalities to 43,058.

A further 2,769 COVID-19 cases were declared free from the virus on May 9 to bring the number of recoveries so far to 9,324,934.

By May 9, the country had injected more than 215.8 million COVID-19 vaccine doses, including over 1.8 million first shots for children from ages five to 11 years old.

According to the Information Technology Department under the Ministry of Health, more than 10 million Vietnamese people have now received their electronic vaccine passports.

This figure represents an increase of over four million people compared to the statistics provided five days ago.

The Department added that vaccine passports are set to be displayed on the electronic health book application, PC-COVID, or on the search page that the Ministry of Health is in the process of developing which will be announced in the near future.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Health has requested the Ministry of Public Security add the function of displaying vaccine passports on the VNEID application.

It also requested that localities and medical facilities nationwide complete the "cleaning" of COVID-19 vaccine vaccination data before June 1, with a view to helping authenticate citizens' electronic vaccine passports.
