VOV.VN - A prolonged heat wave that has hit the capital city of Hanoi has greatly affected the daily lives of local people, forcing many to find ways of protecting themselves from the hot weather.

The capital city is currently experiencing a long hot period with outside temperatures reaching up to 39 and 40 degrees Celsius.
The heat causes discomfort from the early morning when many local people are making the commute to schools and offices.
A street cleaner wears a mask and long clothing to protect from the harsh sun at 7am.
Drivers and passengers hide under long coats whilst travelling on the roads around the city.
Masks, long clothing, and umbrellas are all used by local people in order to cope with the heat.
A shopper wears a Non La, a traditional hat, to hide her face from the sunlight.
The extreme heat causes many people around the capital to feel tired.
Some people even wrap up with three masks and two sets of anti-heat clothing to protect their skin.
Men also seek ways in which to escape the scorching sun.
Local people take advantage of the shade from a high-rise building to rest.
Hanoians have been warned to limit the amount of time they spend outside whilst drinking plenty of water during the hot spell.
