Red Journey 2019 attracts over 1,000 blood donors in Quang Ninh
VOV.VN - A blood donation campaign known as Red Journey 2019 arrived in the northern province of Quang Ninh on June 22, attracting the participation of more than 1,000 officials, youth union members, and local residents.

During the event, eight groups and one individual were presented with certificates of merit by the Vietnam Red Cross Society Central Committee for their contributions to raising public awareness about the importance of blood donations over the previous year.
The Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee also awarded certificates of merit to a further nine groups and seven individuals who have recorded outstanding achievements in blood donation activities this year.
Vu Hong Hai, President of the Quang Ninh Red Cross Society, said the province successfully collected more than 9,000 units of blood last year and over 6,000 units of blood from 10,000 voluntary donors during the first half of the year.
The event has done wonders to raise the profile of blood donations to the public and contributed to easing blood shortages for patients in need during the summer months.
The Red Journey campaign in Quang Ninh will be held between June 22 and July 22 with the aim of providing consultations on voluntary blood donation to nearly 1,000 people. It is hoped that if 1,200 people register to donate blood then the campaign can expect to collect 1,000 units of blood.
