Southern university named among top 500 in QS GER rankings

VOV.VN -The Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City has been listed among the top 301 to 500 universities for nurturing employability among newly graduated students, as announced by the QS Graduate Employability Rankings.

The southern university is the only Vietnamese representative to make the list compiled by the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). In total, 2,100 universities from 132 countries were evaluated for this year’s rankings. 

This year’s rankings mark the second time that the VNUHCM has been listed among the top 301 to 500 universities in the QS Graduate Employability Rankings (QS GER).

Previously, the university was named among the top 701 to 750 in the QS World University Rankings, in addition to being in the top 1000+ of THE 2020 rankings, and placed at 144th in the QS Asia 2019 list.

At present, VNUHCM is home to 60,000 students, over 300 professors and associate professors, and 1,200 doctors.

The university consists of a total of seven member units. These include the University of Technology; the University of Science; the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; the International University; the University of Information Technology; the University of Economics and Law; and the Institute for Environment and Resources.

At the upper echelons of the list, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, also known as MIT, is ranked in first place, followed by Stanford University.

Completing the top 10 are universities from the UK, Australia, and China.

Among the top 500 QS GER rankings, are 188 universities from Europe, 134 universities from Asia, 100 universities from North America, and 27 universities from Southeast Asia.

The QS GER rankings are based on five criteria, including employer reputation,  alumni outcomes, partnerships with employers per faculty, employer/student connections,and graduate employment rate.
