Tropical depression may grow into storm, hit East Sea

A tropical depression developed in the central region of the Philippines may intensify into a storm and enter the East Sea on November 22.

At 1 pm of November 21, the depression’s centre was at 10.5 degrees north latitude and 121.8 degrees east longitude with sustained wind speeds of 50 – 60km per hour, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

In the next 24 hour, it is forecast to move west at 25 km per hour, and may develop into a storm and enter the East Sea. The possible storm will be the ninth typhoon to hit Vietnam this year. At 1pm of November 22, its centre will be at 10.8 degrees north latitude and 116.5 degrees east longitude with the strongest winds at a speed of 60 – 70 km per hour, the centre said.

At 1pm of November 23, it will move west-northwest at 20 km per hour, and its centre will be about 300 km east of the south central coast with the strongest winds at 60 – 90 km per hour, according to the centre.

The possible storm will continue moving west at 15 – 20 km per hour in the following 24 hours, the forecasting centre said, adding at 1pm of November 24, its centre is in the sea area of south central provinces with sustained wind speeds of 75 – 100 km per hour.
