Vietnam, Japan partner in aerospace technology

VOV.VN - The signing of an agreement Monday, September 18, between the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency marks the beginning of a new partnership in aerospace technology.

Pursuant to the terms of the agreement, the two countries will continue to pool their skills and resources in the areas of remote sensing, small satellite production and global satellite positioning system application.

In addition, they will utilize their best efforts to ensure timely completion of the construction of the Vietnam Space Centre project in the Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park in Hanoi that began in September 2012.

Once operational in 2020, scientists utilizing the Centre will be able to observe the entire territory of Vietnam unimpeded by weather conditions using modern radar technology, which will facilitate monitoring of natural disasters, among a myriad of other scientific uses.

The US$452 million project represents the core of the aerospace technological application and research strategy of Vietnam through 2020, which has primarily been funded from official development assistance of the Japanese Government.
