Vietnam wins Gold at Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiads

(VOV) - Vietnam has bagged a gold, a silver and three bronze medals at the 2013 Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiads (APIO 2013), announced the Ministry of Education and Training.

The gold medal went to Vu Dinh Quang Dat, a 12th grader from Hanoi University of Science’s High School for Gifted Students.

Nguyen Phan Quang Minh, a Hai Duong-born 11th grader from Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted, took the silver.

The three bronze medals were given to Nguyen Duc Nam, a 12th grader from Hanoi-Amsterdam High School, Thai Dinh Phuc, a 12th grader from Phan Boi Chau High School for Gifted Students in Nghe An, and Pham Thai Son, a 11th grader from Hanoi National University of Education’s High School for the Gifted.

Vietnam sent five students to the APIO 2013 competition held in Singapore from May 11 to 20, contesting against 500 other rivals from 21 countries and territories in the region.

Vietnam ranked fourth among the five gold medal winners.
