Vietnamese and Dutch universities boost co-operation

VOV.VN - Saxion University of Applied Sciences (SUAS) of the Netherlands and Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) of Vietnam have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on co-operation in education; training; applied research; and exchange of lecturers, students, and PhD students.

Respective faculties of both sides also signed a co-operation agreement relating to granting accounting-audit dual degrees.

Ambassador Pham Viet Anh hailed the Triple Helix model of the Netherlands, which seeks to link universities, governments, and businesses.

Through building linkages such as the exchange of lecturers and students between SUAS and Vietnamese partners, including the Vietnam-Germany Hospital, TDTU, Tra Vinh University, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang University, SUAS has contributed to improving the quality of foreign student training in Vietnam. In addition, it has also developed the country’s high-quality human resources, the Vietnamese diplomat said.

The TDTU represents the first university in Vietnam to partner with SUAS in student and lecturer exchanges and joint degree granting.

Anka Mulder, president of the SUAS, expressed her interest and hope at the prospect of further developing collaboration with Vietnamese partners, especially in applied research fields such as environment, water management, engineering and technology, circular economy, as well as green and sustainable economic development model.

SUAS represents the largest public institute in the Netherlands with a history of nearly 150 years. Today, SUAS is educating a total of 27,000 students, with approximately 3,500 of them from 55 countries globally.
