Vietnamese doctors bring light to poor Cambodian patients

VOV.VN - Doctors from the Army Hospital 175, the Ho Chi Minh City Eye Hospital and Preah Ket Mealea Hospital located in Cambodia’s capital Phnom Penh are offering free eye check-ups, surgery and medicine to Cambodian residents between November 14-15.

The charity program is in its thirteenth year after first being implemented in 2005 and has already helped thousands of Cambodian people. It is being conducted to mark the 65th anniversary of Cambodian Independence Day as well as the successful organisation of Cambodia's sixth general election in 2018.

The program also continues cooperation between the two countries and fits within the framework of bilateral defense cooperation that seeks to tighten the bilateral ties of solidarity, friendship and cooperation.

Nearly 50 Vietnamese doctors are expected to provide free medical advice and medicine to 200 Cambodian patients as well as free eye surgery to around 300 additional patients during two days.

As well as offering free medical check-ups and treatment, the Army Hospital 175 and the Ho Chi Minh City Eye Hospital have been prominent amongst Vietnamese hospitals to set up close ties with the Cambodian healthcare sector and hospitals in order to provide significant support for them.
