VOV strives to be a leading national multimedia, multi-language agency

VOV.VN - The Voice of Vietnam (VOV) Radio should take the initiative during the implementation of Industry 4.0 technology in order to develop into a leading national multimedia and multi-language agency, according to Nguyen The Ky, president of VOV.

It is human resources which prove to be crucial to meeting development targets, Ky told a meeting held on January 4 in Hanoi to review the national broadcaster’s performance in 2020 and outline tasks ahead in 2021.

According to the VOV President, all VOV officials and employees, ranging from reporters to technicians and artists, must be virtuous, talented, and hardworking individuals who can serve as pioneers to take advantage of modern technology as part of efforts to move the broadcasting industry forward.

A push is needed to develop new technology, enhance VOV’s management capacity, improve the skills of employees, while also setting up a mechanism to attract competent personnel and creating a network of collaborators, said Ky.

It was reported that despite the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in 2020, VOV successfully fulfilled its tasks for the year, taking on the role of vanguard in a communication campaign to fight the spread of the epidemic. Faced with danger, reporters headed to COVID-19 hotspots to provide a wide range of coverage on epidemic developments.

Furthermore, VOV became a pioneer in disseminating information about building the Party and political system, strengthening national unity, replicating the exemplary role models, and fighting corruption, waste, and bureaucracy.

The broadcaster played an active role in defending the Party’s ideological foundation, refuting false, distorted, or hostile views, and simultaneously detecting and combating law violations, thereby generating a high consensus among wider society.

Moreover, VOV also provided accurate, objective, and in-depth analysis of important and complex events occurring worldwide. These include the ongoing trade war between the United States and China, the US presidential election, the COVID-19 pandemic, the Middle East peace process, the situation on the Korean peninsula, the Iranian nuclear issue, and the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict.

Throughout the year, VOV won a host of prizes at the national press awards organised by the Vietnam Journalists Association, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, along with Party organisations, ministries, and sectors.

At present, VOV has six channels, including one channel broadcast in 13 foreign languages and another channel broadcast in several ethnic languages. It has developed networks of six domestic and 11 overseas bureaus, in addition to a TV station which is comprised of 16 TV channels targetting different groups of audience.
