25-member squad named for AFC U23 Asian Championship Finals
VOV.VN - New Korean head coach Gong Oh-kyun has made his final decision on selecting 25 players for the U23 team who will compete at the upcoming AFC U23 Asian Championship Finals.
Several players who competed at SEA Games 31 have been selected as key members of the team, including goalkeeper Van Toan, defenders Viet Anh and Thanh Binh, midfielders Ly Cong Hoang Anh and Le Van Do, and strikers Nguyen Van Tung and Nham Manh Dung.
Other members of the side include outstanding faces who were highly rated during the training camp held in Hanoi. They include Nguyen Thanh Nhan of HAGL FC, Vo Dinh Lam and Ha Trung Hau of Binh Duong FC, Tran Danh Trung and Khuat Van Khang of Viettel FC, Le Minh Binh of People's Police FC, and Nguyen Van Truong of Hanoi FC.
According to the schedule moving forward, Vietnam’s U23 team will gather on May 24 and attend a training camp in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) where they will play friendly against the UAE’s U23 team on May 28.
After training, the team will then fly to Uzbekistan on May 29 to compete at the AFC U23 Asian Championship Finals, which is set to take place from June 1 to June 19.
Vietnam have been drawn in the same group as two other Southeast Asian teams, including Thailand and Malaysia, along with the Republic of Korea, the 2020 champions.
The Vietnamese U23 team will face off against Thailand on June 6, the Republic of Korea on June 5, and Malaysia on June 8.
