Boxing referee cherishes golden day at Rio Olympics
VOV.VN - Vuong Trong Nghia is honoured to have been chosen as one of 34 boxing referees by the International Boxing Association to officiate at the Rio Olympics.

He is one of eight Asian referees selected from Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Taiwan (China), China, Kazahkstan, Uzebekistan and Mongolia. |

Referee Nghia Vietnam is also the first referee to participate in the Olympic Boxing executive. |

He also became the second Asian to officiate at two Olympic events (London 2012 and Rio 2016). |

The AIBA has chosen their best referees from among the top 300 to referee at the Rio Olympics. |

The AIBA evaluates their referees for their performance at big competitions such as the World Championships in Doha-Qatar. |

Ultimately more than 40 referees have had to undergo additional training and competition theory, practice and fitness to achieve the benchmark to participate at the Olympics. |
